Vietnam-Nigeria businessmen meet

The Ministry of Commerce and Industry held a seminar for Vietnamese and Nigerian businessmen in Hanoi on April 9, 2009 in a hope of creating opportunity for trade and investment co-operation for the two countries’ businessmen.

The seminar was attended by Vice Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Thanh Bien, Nigerian Charge D’ Affaires in Vietnam Sani Bako,  representatives from the Department of African, West and South Asia, the Department of Trade Promotion, Vietnamese Commercial Counsellor in Nigeria Pham Van Cong, 50 Vietnamese businessmen and 35 Nigerian businessmen who are involving in footwears, garments, pharmaceulticals, food processing and foodstuff.

Addressing the seminar, Vice Minister Nguyen Thanh Bien highlighted the increase of the trade volume between the two countries in recent years. The two countries’ trade volume was over 105 million US dollar in 2008, an increase of 50% over 2007.

At the seminar,  many questions raised by businessmen have been satisfactorily answered by the representatives of the Ministry of Indusitry and Trade and the Nigerian Embassy in Hanoi.

Mr Udunenwu Vitalis Eberechukwu, on behalf of Nigerian businessmen, expressed his hope that the two countries’ governments would create more favourable conditions for businesesses, including the application for entry visa and access to information about market, ect.

After the seminar, businessesmen of the two sides met and discussed opportunities for co-operation./.
